Job Description
Job Summary
To support the Medical Laboratory Scientist in the safe and efficient processing of patient samples and routine laboratory procedures in line with ISO 15189, laboratory SOPs, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect, label, process, and properly store patient specimens.
- Perform routine laboratory tests within approved competence.
- Prepare samples, reagents, and laboratory workstations.
- Accurately record results in the LIS and laboratory records.
- Escalate abnormal or critical results to the Medical Laboratory Scientist.
- Perform routine equipment checks, cleaning, and basic maintenance.
- Monitor laboratory supplies, reagents, and consumables.
- Maintain laboratory cleanliness, safety, and infection-control standards.
- Report equipment faults, errors, incidents, and non-conformities.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and professional conduct.
- Support the Medical Laboratory Scientist with assigned duties.
Requirements
- Relevant qualification in Medical Laboratory Technology/Science.
- Valid professional registration/licence as required.
- Knowledge of specimen handling, laboratory procedures, and safety.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, or Zoho Sheets.
- Good attention to detail, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to follow ISO 15189 requirements, SOPs, and professional instructions.
